Complementary Alternative Medicine

A note from Dr. Shalamah Yahchove
 |
MASSAGE and SOAKING are linked to a 4000-year-old tradition of the healing arts. Isis, considered to be the first physician of the ancient world, the Divine Mother, was a queen of Egypt and mortal goddess who reigned circa 4000 BCE. |
In her book Medicine Women Elisabeth Brooke tells us that Isis was worshipped throughout Egypt and administered many temples in her name. Brooke writes, "Her priestesses, consecrated to purity, had to BATHE daily, wore linen robes free from animal fiber, and were strict vegetarians.... They were also physicians. They used 'rational medicine,' herbs, MASSAGES, baths, and so on, and combined them with the 'irrational medicine' of prayer, incantations, and ritual."
I gently urge you on your next visit to Wilbur Hot Springs to schedule a massage and chiropractic session with one of our touch therapists. This is a perfect remedy to purify your soul and spirit while soaking in Wilbur Hot Springs' mineral-laden waters. What was good for Queen Isis can also be good for our well-being.

Notes From the Caretaker:

Dear Friends of Wilbur:
Just in time for our recent SaranaYoga weekend, Wilbur's good friends Dennis Carter and his team finished the new steps to the Yoga Deck above the swimming pool. Carter's team also caulked the entire floor of the deck. The caulking serves to keep cold air out and adds an artistic design. We also re-plumbed the heater vents and now we have a year-round facility for seminars, weddings and other events.
| Safe, aesthetically pleasing access to the Yoga Deck has been on our "to do" list for some time. Wilbur only builds what it can afford to pay for at the time of building and does not take on debt to pay for improvements. This pay-as-we-go policy slows down all projects. This building project may not seem newsworthy, but it is to us. The "take-away" of our story is that our refusal to create, and live in, debt allows us to sleep at night without fear of debt. Living in fear is debilitating to health; living without fear is essential for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. |
 |
Yours in good health,
Richard
